Adventure Course Operator Certification
Adventure Course Operators need to be prepared to work with a wide variety of situations. The Operators must have the necessary technical knowledge to guarantee a safe operation while maintaining the elements that make up the Course in optimum conditions. In addition, Operators need the skills to manage risks, develop protocols and supervise their employees among other functions related to the administration and operation of the Course. Below is a general list that establishes the objectives of the Operator Certification course. The certified Operator must meet the following objectives:
1. Learn methods to determine the ratio of employees by number of participants
2. Understand the importance of the Supervision Plan.
3. Know and use methods to evaluate the quality level of the Course Operation.
4. Understand the importance and implications of the safety talk.
5. Use and management of the different belay techniques used in the Course.
6. Understand the importance and application of the Risk Management Plan during the Operation of the Course.
7. Know the skills, abilities and critical knowledge needed by the Program
8. Assistants and the Adventure Guides for the management, programming and technical operation of the Course.
9. Know how to develop and apply internal training based on the competencies required according to their position.
10. Know how to evaluate the skills required of the Adventure Guides.
11. Develop and apply a program of practices and scenarios of emergency situations for employees related to the Operation of the Course.
12. Know the templates to document incidents and accidents, logs, inspections, inventories, etc.
13. Understand the importance of the Emergency Plan, know how to keep it current as well as activate it in case of an emergency.
14. Know how to make inventories, inspections and store the equipment.
15. Understand the importance of the Inspection, Maintenance and Repair Logs made in the Course.
16. Create procedures to remove equipment that does not pass inspection.
17. Know the importance of keeping Logs of the maintenance and inspections made to the Equipment.
18. Know how to develop daily inspection protocols and how to document them.
